The University of California collections covers all the kingdoms of life and is organized into four main subdivisions, Protists and Prokaryotes (microfossils), paleobotany (plants), vertebrate paleontology (vertebrate animals), and invertebrate paleontology (animals lacking a backbone).

We update taxonomy and check specimen identifications and associated information, but outdated names, mistaken identifications, and erroneous localities inevitably occur.
